Number Of School Leavers As Job Seekers By Level Of Education & Sex 1996

The table below estimates the numbers of school leavers in 1996 at each level of education completed and what percentage of them can be expected to have entered the labour force in search of employment. For that year, it is estimated that some 9,800 males and 5,100 females left schools and tertiary level institutions to seek employment. With little change likely in the rates and numbers dropping out of school or not continuing on after completion of Forms 5 and 6, it may be assumed that 1996 numbers seeking work will have been little changed in subsequent years.
